Volta Restaurant
Naming, identity, and graphic applications for the Borneta hotel’s restaurant
Miiro Hotels commissioned us with the development of the brand and visual language for the restaurant located within the Borneta hotel, a space with its own identity that complements the hotel experience. The project included the creation of a name that adds personality, connects with the local environment, and reflects the essence of its culinary offering based on Mediterranean cuisine with local products and creative dishes.
The chosen name, “Volta”, draws inspiration from the arches of the Porxos d’en Xifré, characteristic of Paseo Picasso, where the spectacular hotel building is located. Additionally, it has a second meaning referring to a journey or “volta” (go for a walk), symbolizing the unique gastronomic experience offered by the chef. The logo created builds on this idea, shaping the word into a curve, generating a symbol that integrates seamlessly with the architectural form and character of the space.
The graphic language was designed to convey a combination of freshness and creativity. It uses vibrant colors, subtle illustrations, and a typographic play that includes the PLACA typeface by designer Laura Meseguer, inspired by Barcelona’s street name plaques. This typographic combination and resulting graphic design give coherence to all restaurant applications, from menus and signage to promotional elements.
The result is a visual identity that enhances the essence of “Volta” as both a gastronomic and social space. With its Mediterranean cuisine offering and a cocktail bar for nighttime visitors, “Volta” positions itself as a vibrant destination within the Borneta hotel, blending local tradition with a contemporary and creative experience.
